I cannot say enough good things about Jenine. She was patient and knowledgeable with all of our questions and concerns. She has a pleasing personality....calm, friendly, good sense of humour. She was the calmest person in the room when my labour took a turn for the worst and was an incredible support.

It’s me, Hi!

I’ll be the one awkward dancing around the kitchen to a Taylor swift song, windows open and oreos in hand. I talk too much when the conversation turns to birth, and you can convince me of just about anything if there’s chocolate involved. I figure if we’re going to get to know each other, we should start with those very important basics.

I want real, not perfection.

Too much of the world right now is fake. You don’t have time for that when you’re preparing for a new baby. I want our relationship to be open, honest, fun and authentic.
I want you to be comfortable letting down every guard and being real with me.
I want to know what makes you tick, and that comes about so much easier if you feel like you really know me- so here we go!

BASICS:

I’ve been a Winnipeg doula since 2008, and a Winnipeg birth photographer since 2016. I started filming clips in 2021 and offering standalone films in 2023.
I’ve taken training with DONA International, MACFE Winnipeg, Birth Becomes You and Spinning Babies.
I also volunteer with Light The Shadows offering keepsake photography for local families experiencing loss.
I have a degree in psychology that got tossed to the side as soon as someone told me what a doula was.

KEEP GOING:

I love sleep. Which makes it more cruel that I have 3 kiddos that hate sleep.
I am an empath and I feel things deeply.
My grade 12 year at boarding school was one of the best years of my life.
The days I gave birth are some of the best days of my life, pain and all. They were challenging and empowering all in one.

dig deeper:

Water is my happy place. Thunderstorms, ocean waters and hot showers are all heaven to me.

I believe most bad days can be fixed with a good book and a handful of chocolate.

I have 31 photo albums on my shelves, and love being transported back to my childhood just by cracking the cover.

I found my doula with my third babe just as important as with my first.

Music makes my world go round, and music in a long shower is even better.

I spent my teenage years in the country. Winnipeg is home now, but the smell of hay and sweet feed can instantly transport me back.

I spent years training to be a Clinical Psychologist, but stumbled upon the magic of birth instead. My degree now collects dust and I don't regret it one bit.

I visited the mountains for the first time when I was 34 and it was like coming home.

Each of my birth stories is different. My firstborn humbled me with her hospital arrival. My second surprised us in an unassisted birth, and my third healed me with his peaceful water birth. I appreciate the beauty in each one.

I believe in making the most out of a random Tuesday.

I believe vulnerability is beautiful.

I shared more here too. More questions? Just ask.

Love,

Jenine

My belief about birth.

I believe birth in all its forms is an amazing, wonderful, exciting event.

I believe birth has a profound effect on birthing people that is never forgotten.

I believe we intuitively and instinctively know how to give birth.

I believe that fear increases pain, and understanding reduces fear.

I believe each baby has a different journey to come earthside. It is not always the one we expect, but it can still be a positive experience.

I believe education empowers us to trust our intuition, instinct and inner wisdom.
